The fire is glowing on this cold winter's evening...

Once these old fire-cups (ventouses) were used
to take the winter ills and pains from poorly bodies.
To some extent - they are still fire-cups to me ;-)

Mais maintenant - elles décorent ma cheminée
et m'éclaircissent avec la lueur d'une petite flamme
There is laughter behind everything at La Rivière
Le rire m'accompagne de partout à Nöel, et toute l'année d'ailleurs...
Tiny "pampilles" decorate my wreath.
Even the rosehips deserve a bit of Christmas sparkle...
C'est la saison de briller!
We have music playing ... but the violin just listens now.
So come in and share some Christmas cheer...
Promise - the Chateau Guiraud is a great vintage too!
There's a glass waiting just for you...
Joyeux Noël! Et bonnes fêtes de fin d'année...
à TOUS et à TOUTES

You should know that my mother's maiden name is "Giraud" which, seeing as there is only one letter missing, means that I really must share that bottle of wine avec tu!

Oooh I love your new header, and I love the rosehips, they look so pretty wound amongst candlelight. Lovely to look at while snuggling up with a glass of xmas cheer. Have a great Christmas Ange.xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post Ange - so calm & peaceful. Despite a predicted temp. of 108F. here in South Australia, I'll be fighting the throngs at the Wine Store today selecting all the grog for Christmas lunch, so that bottle of Chateau Guiraud is just the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Repurposing these firecups is wonderful. Looks lovely amongst the rosehips.
ReplyDeleteJoyeux Noel!
Carole
Dear Ange,
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your kind words about my ' HOME '.
It probably looks better in photographs than in real life !!
Your photographs are beautiful. I love rosehips. I can't seem to get my hands on many round here, otherwise, they would be part of my decorations.
Julie and I are great blogging friends so , when she told me that you had sent her the antique glass slides I said I was coming over to make you my 'best friend' and that, if I told you that I liked Picasso that maybe you would find me one in a French flea market !!!! Ho ho ho..... just kidding.
Have a wonderful Christmas and I wish you many happy times in the New Year. XXXX
